Georgia HEART Hospital Program Publishes 2025 Annual Report: The Impact of HEART

Record-Breaking Support Continues to Strengthen Rural Healthcare Across Georgia

March 31, 2026

The Georgia HEART Hospital Program is proud to announce the release of its 2025 Annual Report, highlighting another record-breaking year of support for rural hospitals across the state. In 2025, more HEART tax credits were consumed than ever before, with a total of $79.2 million contributed to rural hospitals statewide.

In the CEO’s letter to supporters, Ben Saylor emphasizes the continued growth and impact of the program. “Since 2017, thousands of Georgians have chosen to redirect a portion of their state income tax dollars to support rural hospitals through the Georgia Rural Hospital Tax Credit program,” he remarks. “Year after year, this unique partnership between individuals, businesses, and hospitals has strengthened access to healthcare in communities across our state.”

The 2025 Annual Report details how HEART tax credit contributions are making a tangible difference in communities statewide. Eligible hospitals have used HEART funds to expand access to care, enhance emergency and diagnostic services, upgrade facilities, and invest in innovative technologies that improve patient outcomes. From new medical equipment and expanded service lines to infrastructure improvements and workforce support, these investments are ensuring that high-quality healthcare remains accessible close to home.

Business and individual taxpayers alike continue to play a critical role in the program’s success. In 2025, businesses and business owners accounted for 62% of total contributions, demonstrating the strong partnership between Georgia’s business community and rural hospitals. The report also highlights the growing engagement of healthcare leaders, donors, and community partners, including the inaugural 2025 Georgia HEART Conference, which brought together rural hospital leaders from across the state to share ideas, strengthen partnerships, and advance solutions for rural healthcare.

By turning state income tax payments into direct support for rural hospitals, Georgia HEART continues to provide a powerful and innovative way for taxpayers to make a lasting impact on the health and prosperity of their communities.
